Lachlan MacLearn

Though he's opened shows over the years for artists such as Livingston Taylor, David Bromberg, Jonathan Edwards and Bonnie Raitt, Lachlan currently divides his time between writing and producing music, and developing user documentation and online help systems for a software company in Massachusetts.

Music began early for this Connecticut Native. "I grew up listening to British Invasion Music, and American folk rock, as well as the classical, Jazz, and broadway music my parents preferred. I was singing in a church choir by the time I was eight, and was playing guitar in my first band by late '64. From then on...it was all downhill..."

After struggling to make a living as a performing singer/songwriter in clubs across New England and San Francisco for a number of years, he decided that he preferred a well-paid daytime gig and creating music on his own terms, to wringing out a living as a club player -- a role he pursued for a number of years.

"To me, the critical thing was always 'creating' the music. The opportunity to take it to a live setting may come around again, but it will have to be because enough people like the recordings to come out to hear it performed live. It's way too difficult to do well on a 'shoestring', and I'm no longer interested in being a club 'cover' musician. There's too much I still want to say as a songwriter." - Check out the 'Releases' page for information regarding Lachlan's CD release: "OBLIVION PONIES".

Peter Neri

"Night Visions", Peter Neri's debut solo release, recalls some of the finest acoustic guitar arrangement and subtle detailing heard in the works of stylists like Michael Hedges, but with an instrumental voice that is his, and his alone. Ironically Peter, like Lachlan MacLearn (see above), has also chosen to protect his artistic vision from the requirements of the "musicians meat market" by earning his living in the 'high-tech' realm.

Peter began the long path to his current level of artistry playing high-energy rock, in the clubs of southern Connecticut in the mid and late '60s, as a member of several bands, first and foremost of which was "The Pulse".

The Pulse played to packed houses all around southern New England, and Peter's reputation as a unique and visionary lead guitarist and song writer began to spread. A little while later, a spin-off band, "Island" narrowly escaped fame and fortune in the U.K. after famed producer Mickey Most heard some demos and expressed interest.

"Island" also attracted the attention of Todd Rundgren, who served as engineer for some of the bands additional demo work. By the early '70's, Peter's vision turned west, leading to a stint as a member of a club band in Montana. Returning to Connecticut in '76, Peter was inspired to pursue classical studies on nylon string guitar, after serendipitous exposure to the work of classical artists such as Eliot Fisk, Andre Segovia, Julian Bream, and Christopher Parkening.

Eventually, Peter hooked up with the Connecticut bluegrass band "Spacegrass". A chance gig in Vermont resulted in an introduction to the woman who would become his wife, and in time, his relocation to Vermont, where Peter, his wife, and family live today. "Night Visions" is a special work by a special artist. Check out a few clips from the CD on our 'Clips page'
